The Path of Yoga Asana
Holistic Self-Care
Yoga is a discipline that originated in ancient India and has evolved over thousands of years. It encompasses a range of physical (yoga asana), mental, and spiritual practices, with the goal of achieving harmony and balance in the body and mind.
Yoga asanas, or postures, are the physical component of the ancient practice of yoga. Asanas are designed to promote strength, flexibility, balance, and relaxation in the body and mind. When practiced with mindfulness, yoga asanas contribute to overall well-being and a sense of inner harmony.
Class Technique
The class will emphasize detail, precision, and alignment in the performance of postures (asanas) and breath control. The focus on proper alignment and holding of poses helps build endurance. Practicing yoga asana in this style offers a myriad of benefits, including improved posture, increased strength and flexibility, stress reduction, enhanced body awareness, enhanced respiration, energy, vitality, and better balance and coordination.
Class Structure
There is a strong focus on individualized attention and alignment. Classes begin with simple asanas and then progress to more complex ones. Props such as belts, blocks, and blankets may be used to help students adjust and support their bodies while learning.
